A Special Reminder from Dr. Rodgers—Regular Teeth Cleanings Are Important!

You might not know it, but your smile and your overall health are connected, which is why Dr. Rodgers wants to remind all his patients that regular teeth cleanings are vital. By coming in to see us twice a year, we can help you monitor your oral health and provide treatment if necessary.

Why are twice-yearly teeth cleanings so important?

Because regular brushing and flossing at home aren’t enough. To really keep your teeth clean and achieve optimal oral health, you need the expertise—not to mention the tools—you’ll find at our Dunwoody dental office.

What Can I Expect During A Regular Teeth Cleaning?

When you come in, you can expect to be treated like part of the family. We’ll ask you how you’ve been, how your smile’s doing, and we’ll make sure you’re absolutely comfortable.

Next we’ll start by inspecting your teeth and gums for the telltale signs of gum disease. Then, once your oral exam has been completed, we can move on to the cleaning portion of your visit. By the time your appointment is done, Dr. Rodgers and our team will have a firm understanding of how your smile is doing, and if we need to, we can recommend a treatment plan that’s right for you.

How Long Has It Been Since Your Last Teeth Cleaning?

If you’re ready to schedule your next teeth cleaning appointment with us, call our Dunwoody office today. We recommend that all patients older than four years old see us twice a year.

Create a Radiant Smile with Porcelain Veneers from Dr. Rodgers

First impressions are powerful. And because your teeth are one of the first things anyone will notice about you, a dazzling smile can lead others to view you as more successful, attractive, and confident.

But not everyone has exactly the smile they’ve dreamed of.

If yours is worn down, chipped, cracked, stained, or misaligned, Dr. Rodgers can help you achieve a more radiant look with porcelain veneers.

Porcelain veneers are thin and made of high quality materials. They’re bonded to the front of teeth and designed to blend in perfectly with the rest of your smile, as well as the rest of your appearance. What’s more, with attentive care, porcelain veneers can last for years to come.

During your first appointment at our Dunwoody dental office, Dr. Rodgers will talk with you about porcelain veneers and begin planning your treatment. Your appointment will end with a set of temporary veneers being applied to your teeth. Then, when your permanent veneers are ready, you’ll just need to come back to our Dunwoody office to have them placed.

If you’d like to know more about porcelain veneers, call our Dunwoody dental office to schedule a consultation visit with Dr. Rodgers. We’d be happy to talk with you and answer any questions you might have. Our office serves patients from Dunwoody, Roswell, Norcross, and surrounding areas.

Give Yourself a Whiter Smile This January with Two Convenient Options from Dr. Rodgers

Have you been looking for a way to give your smile a fresh start for 2012? One of the best ways is with teeth whitening from Dr. Rodgers’ Dunwoody dental office.

Maybe you’ve tried over-the-counter whitening products in the past but weren’t happy with the results. With professional teeth whitening from Dr. Rodgers, you can enjoy a smile up to 10 shades brighter. And what’s more, we offer two convenient options: in-office and at-home teeth whitening.

With in-office teeth whitening, patients can enjoy a whiter smile in less than one hour, thanks to our professional gel and whitening lamp. In-office whitening is an especially good option for patients who need whiter teeth in a hurry, perhaps for a wedding, a job interview, or another special occasion.

It is possible, though, for in-office whitening to result in sensitivity for some patients. That’s why Dr. Rodgers also offers at-home teeth whitening.

With at-home whitening, patients only need to wear a pair of take-home trays lined with whitening gel for the recommended period of time each day. At-home results take between one and two weeks to appear, and allow patients to whiten their teeth in the comfort of their own home.

Which option is most right for you? If you need help deciding, schedule an appointment with our Dunwoody dental office today. Dr. Rodgers would be happy help patients from Dunwoody, Roswell, Norcross, and surrounding areas, discover which teeth whitening option will help you best achieve your desired smile.

Give Your Smile the Care It Needs This Holiday Season

Between now and Christmas, trimming the tree and shopping for presents will be foremost on many people’s minds.

But the next couple of weeks will also be filled with holiday treats and parties. That’s why, in addition to wishing everyone a happy holiday season, Dr. Rodgers and the entire team at our Dunwoody dental practice would also like to mention a few helpful tips to keep in mind.

First, try to maintain a balanced diet. Most holiday goodies are filled with sugar and carbs. Try balancing out any treats you might have with something that you know your body will thank you for. Also, if you find yourself facing a buffet table at a party, try to get what you want your first time through the line—don’t keep going back to snack.

And when you can, brush your teeth immediately afterwards. If that’s not possible, carry a sugar-free or xylitol gum with you so you can enjoy a piece when you’re done eating.

Lastly, consider including your smile in your New Year’s resolutions. Not many do, but the health of your smile can have an enormous impact on your overall health. Resolving to brush and floss twice daily and visit Dr. Rodgers’ Dunwoody dental office every six months can do more than just help your smile—it can help you support your smile.

In fact, if you haven’t made it in to our Dunwoody office yet for your year-end visit, or you’d like to get jump start on next year, give us a call today. Dr. Rodgers serves patients from Dunwoody, Roswell, Norcross, and surrounding areas.

Dr. Rodgers Restores Dunwoody Smiles with Custom-Made Crowns

Teeth that are cracked, broken, or severely decayed are structurally comprised, which means that your smile itself is comprised. But your tooth and your smile alike can be restored thanks to something called a crown. By placing a crown over a damaged tooth (which is called capping), Dr. Rodgers can restore health, function, and appearance to a patient’s smile.

How the Crown Process Works

Dental Crowns can be made from a variety of materials, including porcelain, metal, and even a combination of the two. What kind you’ll receive when you come to our Dunwoody dental office depends on your needs. If you’ll be restoring a front tooth, Dr. Rodgers will likely recommend a crown made of porcelain, while patients who are restoring a back tooth may want to go with one made from metal or a porcelain-metal combination.

Placing a crown is a two-part process. In your first visit, Dr. Rodgers will prep your tooth by removing decay or any old fillings and then taking an impression of it.  Our dental lab will use this impression as they carefully construct your custom-made crown.

Once your dental crown is ready, you’ll come back to our office for a second visit. During this phase, all Dr. Rodgers will have to do is cap your comprised tooth and check your crown’s fit. When your crown is in place, your procedure will be done and you can return to your normal schedule with a fully restored smile.

If you have questions about crowns, or any of our other services, please call Dr. Rodgers’ Dunwoody dental office today. We gladly serve patients from Dunwoody, Roswell, Norcross, and surrounding areas.

There’s No Waiting for Dental Implants at Dr. Rodgers’ Dunwoody Office

One of the genuine downsides of dental implants is how long it can take to complete your implant procedure. Between your placement appointment and your restoration appointment, weeks, if not months, can go by.

That’s why, at Dr. Rodgers’ Dunwoody office, we offer two alternatives that are changing the way dental implants are done—teeth-in-an-hour and teeth-in-a-day, both from Nobel Biocare, one of the leading company for implant dentistry solutions.

How Teeth-In-An-Hour and Teeth-In-A-Day Work

One of the secrets behind teeth-in-an-hour and teeth-in-a-day is that neither requires the time-consuming bone grafts of traditional dental implants. Instead, your implant and your replacement tooth can be placed in the same visit, restoring your smile’s strength and functionality in the process. Both procedures can be completed in a relatively short period of time, and you may even be able to enjoy a light meal with your family that same evening. That’s how revolutionary these two procedures are!

But is either of these procedures right for you? Only a consultation visit can tell us that, which is why, if you’re considering dental implants, please schedule a consultation visit with us today. During a simple consultation visit at our Dunwoody office, Dr. Rodgers will thoroughly inspect your teeth and gums to determine what will work best for you.

Schedule Your Consultation Visit Today

From the entire team at Dr. Rodgers’ Dunwoody office, we would love to help you any way we can. Call us today if you’re a patient from Dunwoody, Roswell, Norcross, or a nearby location.

Digital Radiography Is Better for the Planet, Our Patients, and Our Team

For generations, the only way for dentists to take x-rays was with cumbersome equipment. These large x-ray devices, though, expose patients to radiation and take images that have to be developed with hazardous chemicals.

That’s why, at Dr. Rodgers’ Dunwoody office, we’re using digital radiography instead. With digital radiography, we can deliver safer, patient-centered care that’s also better for our team as a whole and the planet as well.

The Benefits of Digital Radiography

One of the primary benefits of digital radiography is that it exposes patients to as much as 90% less radiation. What’s more, the images can be taken with just a single sensor, instead of one negative after the other, as with traditional radiography. That makes the whole process safer and more comfortable for patients overall.

But patients aren’t the only ones who benefit from what digital radiography has to offer. Because the images captured by digital radiography can be viewed immediately on a chairside monitor, there’s nothing to develop. That means our team can avoid those hazardous chemicals that are so harmful for the environmental and, potentially, us. Instead, Dr. Rodgers and our team can spend more time helping you understand your oral health and the care you need.

X-rays with digital radiography are a standard part of every regular visit with Dr. Rodgers. Call us today to learn more about this revolutionary technology or to schedule your next appointment with us. Our Dunwoody office serves patients from Roswell, Norcross, and surrounding areas.

A Few Oral Care Reminders from Dr. Rodgers’ Dunwoody Dentist Office

With Halloween only a few weeks away, we felt it would be a good time to offer patients a few oral care reminders.

You can’t go anywhere this time of year without running into candy. And while kids may be the primary target, adults aren’t safe from temptation either.

So, while we don’t want to ruin anyone’s fun this Halloween season, we’d like to remind you how important it is to brush at least twice daily, floss at least once daily, and to gargle with a quality mouthwash.

You’ll also want to make sure you’ve changed toothbrushes recently. One brush won’t last a lifetime, especially if you have, or have recently had, trouble with gum disease.

And speaking of brushes, make sure the one you’re using has soft bristles and is small enough to reach hard-to-brush areas, like your very back teeth. Electric toothbrushes can make all of this easier, but we understand that not every patient can afford one. What you might try instead is a simple battery-powered toothbrush. Either one of these can help you brush more efficiently and keep your smile cleaner.

For more tips on caring for your teeth and how you can still enjoy your Halloween without wrecking your oral health, check back with our blog closer to the 31st. Until then, call our Dunwoody dentist office if you have any questions for Dr. Rodgers or would like to schedule a checkup with us. Our Dunwoody dentist office serves patients from Dunwoody, Roswell, Norcross, and surrounding areas, and offer services in general, cosmetic, and restorative dentistry.
